CANTARES MEXICANOS

                      I
Mi ardiente anhelo, mi pesar profundo
Es encontrar un sitio donde pueda
 Cortar hermosas y fragantes flores.
¿A quién preguntaré?
 Esmeralda tremante de los aires, Al hermoso y brillante colibrí;
Imaginaos también que yo interrogo
 A la ágil y dorada mariposa;

PLATO AND SOUL MATES

I FOUND THIS ARTICLE IN THE WEB SEARCHING FOR MEANING OF A SOULMATE... PROVO, Utah (November 13, 2014)— The idea of soul mates is at least as old as the ancienT Greeks. That doesn’t mean that the Greek philosophers believed in perfect matches, however. In an installment of the philosophy lecture series, assistant professor Ryan Christensen explained the concept of soul mates as treated by Plato, as well as his own conclusions on the subject. “My topic today is loneliness,” Christensen said, beginning his presentation. He described loneliness as more than just the feeling of being alone and wishing you had someone there. It is the experience of being alien and unable to understand others. For many, the solution to loneliness is the soul mate, someone with whom one can relate to perfectly and vice versa, as if one person. Plato addressed the idea of two people coming from one. In Plato’s Symposium, Aristophanes tells the story of how Zeus – fearing that the powerful and physically perfect humans would rise against him – split human beings in half, creating the distinct male and female counterparts. According to Aristophanes, that is why people talk about looking for their “second half” and equate falling in love with “feeling whole.” Within the play, Plato objects to Aristophanes’ account of the origin of the genders and the idea that one person can be half of a whole. “According to Plato, you can’t truly love something, whether half or whole, unless it is truly good. You can never be satisfied with something that is less than perfection,” explained Christensen. Christensen agreed with Plato’s objection. In another story, the god Hephaestus offered two lovers the chance to be fused into one being, permanently repairing the separation caused by Zeus. The lovers accepted the offer, a decision that Christensen found surprising. “Love requires that the other be other,” he said. “You can’t desire something that isn’t other than you.” In other writing, Plato described the soul mate as an immature notion, especially the idea of becoming one with another person. “A mature relationship begins with realizing that you are a radically independent individual – that you keep your independence, and you don’t get too close,” Christensen said. “That mature relationship is founded on the independence of both partners.” Soul mates cannot solve loneliness, Christensen explained. “That doesn’t mean we have to wallow in loneliness. We can stop looking for our ‘other halves’ and instead form these mature relationships.” —Samuel Wright (B.A. American Studies ’15)

It is love.I will have to run or hide...

It is love. I will have to run or hide.

The walls of its prison rise up, as in a twisted dream. The beautiful mask has changed, but as always it is the one. Of what use are my talismans: the literary exercises, the vague erudition, the knowledge of words used by the harsh North to sing its seas and swords, the temperate friendship, the galleries of the Library, the common things, the habits, the young love of my mother, the militant shadow of my dead, the timeless night, the taste of dreams?

Being with you or being without you is the measure of my time.

Now the pitcher breaks about the spring, now the man arises to the sound of birds, now those that watch at the windows have gone dark, but the darkness has brought no peace.

It, I know, is love: the anxiety and the relief at hearing your voice, the expectation and the memory, the horror of living in succession.

It is love with its mythologies, with its tiny useless magics.

There exists a corner that I dare not cross.

Now the armies confine me, the hordes.

(This room is unreal; she has not seen it.)

The name of a woman gives me away.

A woman hurts me in all of my body.

Oda a la tristeza.

Tristeza, escarabajo
de siete patas rotas,
huevo de telaraña,
rata descalabrada,
esqueleto de perra:
Aquí no entras.
No pasa.
Ándate.
Vuelve
al sur con tu paraguas,
vuelve
al norte con tus dientes de culebra.
Aquí vive un poeta.
La tristeza no puede
entrar por estas puertas.
Por las ventanas
entra el aire del mundo,
las rojas rosas nuevas,
las banderas bordadas
del pueblo y sus victoria.
No puedes.
Aquí no entras.
Sacude

NOSTALGIA

Nostalgia.
TIjuana May 1977 . I was wearing my brown knee boots my mom got me for my birthday and i was wearing the awful leopard coat I used to luv. A few days earlier. Just celebrated my 13 birthday .And that particular night my mom was giving me the most wonderful gift ever. (Besides my brown boots)
We were right there with tickets in hand wating in a long line our turn to get to the movie theater.  To watch the premiere of STARS WARS.
I was there.
I couldn't breathe. My heart pumping out of my chest .All  of me bubbling with excitement .
That night
I fell madly in love of Han Solo

It was a wonderful and unforgettable

Is another  Stars wars premiere.im looking forward to enjoy it in good company.
As I did 30 something years ago.

I choose. ..

"I choose to love you in silence, for in silence I find no rejection.
I choose to love you in loneliness, for in loneliness no one owns you but me.
I choose to adore you from a distance, for distance will shield me from pain.
I chose to kiss you in the wind, for the wind is gentler than my lips.
I choose to hold you in my dreams, for in my dreams you have no end."
